The Northern Festival Centre was opened in 1982 and has played a vital role in the Port Pirie community. The Northern Festival Centre attracts both world-class performers while also hosting locally produced theatre, dance and music. The complex, incorporating the Keith Michell Theatre, has in recent years undergone major renovations and now offers a licensed 110 seat restaurant and bar, an orchestra pit for up to 40 musicians, sound loops for the hearing impaired and a ballroom with the capacity to seat 500 people.
