Fugitive

Robin Hood retold...

Champion of the underdog, a fleeing desperado, a modern-day man in tights.

Director: Rosemary Myers

Writer: Matthew Whittet

Designer: Jonathon Oxlade

Cast: Eamon Farren, Patrick Graham, Geoff Revell, Matthew Whittet, Louisa Mignone, Danielle Catanzariti

When a young boy is brutally attacked, one guy and his crew take the law into their own hands seeking retribution and a new world order in the depths of a dark forest.

Young, sexy and invincible, the group lives large. But violence comes at a cost and Robin has secrets. Cracks appear and the friends face off. As they fight to keep it together, the enemy closes in and their world starts to implode.

In the unique theatrical voice of Australia’s Matthew Whittet, Fugitive is an anarchic, hysterical, knife-edge ride with a direct line out of the psyche of a contemporary anti-hero. By the director and designer team that created The Wizard of Oz, Fugitive considers just how far a group of people will go for their ideals and the quest for justice?

Fugitive is set in a future leaderless Australia; a fantasy, manga, Mad Max, hip hop, slacker Australia where suburbia is under siege from self appointed law makers. Fear pervades as doors and windows are barred...

Writer Matthew Whittet, who is regarded as an exciting new voice in theatre, will also perform in Fugitive. He has many film and television roles to his credit, including Moulin Rouge, All Saints, Blue Heelers and Changi.

Windmill Theatre Director Rosemary Myers said, 'Fugitive re-explores an archetypal story to speak to a new audience not usually catered for in the performing arts. Fugitive is a rites of passage story and a love triangle engaging heavily with pop culture. The production asks us how far we are prepared to go for our indeals and in the quest for justice when structures of law and order are removed. When does claiming justice become a crime?'

Warning: Features language which may be considered offensive and depictions of violence. Suitable for ages 15+.

Presented by Windmill in association with the Adelaide Festival Centre’s Inspace program.
