Nexus Cabaret is proud to present Expresiones for a special performance by popular demand, following their once-off performance just weeks ago at Nexus for the Adelaide Fringe.

Expresiones is a six-piece band and is fronted by the talented Espinosa brothers, with special guest Azza from local Adelaide band, Little Red Door.

Fusing Latin American instruments and rhythms with funk, rock and reggae, Expresiones will bring Adelaide alive with the spirit of Latin America.

Expresiones pushes Latin American creativity by being one of the few Latin American acts in Australia to write their own music. Noni and Jaime Jr learned and grew up playing traditional Andean music in Adelaide from a young age.Noni is a talented guitarist and stringed instrumentalist while Jaime Jr is amongst Australia’s best panpipe players.

Andean tunes, tropical Caribbean beats and Mexican ballads are modernised and uniquely expressed against the background of the ancient cry of the Incas.

Expresiones uses iconic Latin American instruments, the most famous being the sikus (panpipes). Made out of bamboo, the sikus is one of the oldest Andean instruments.

Traditional made out of the condor’s leg bone, the kena flute was only used by Incan high priests.

The tiple, used in tropical rhythms such as Cumbia and Vallenatos, is a 12-string resonating guitar originating from tropical Colombia.

An Expresiones performance promises an amazing array of rhythms to tantalise your soul and vibrate your body to a dance. Energetic, fun and at times, a little crazy!
